KGY23 SERIES

Tri-Axis, Low Power, Digital (SPI/I2C), 4x4x0.9mm LGA

The KGY23 series is designed to strike a balance between current consumption and noise performance with excellent bias stability over temperature. These sensors can accept supply voltages between 2.6V and 3.3V, and digital communication voltages between 1.8 and 3.3V. Sensor bandwidth is user-definable.

These high-performance silicon micromachined angular rate sensors consist of a sensor element and an ASIC packaged in a 4x4x0.9mm Land Grid Array (LGA). The sensor element is fabricated from silicon with proprietary Deep Reactive Ion Etching (DRIE) processes and is protected from the environment by a hermetically-sealed silicon cap at the wafer level.

During operation, the gyroscope sensor elements are forced into vibration. When angular velocities are applied about the sensing axes, vibration is transferred to sensing elements, causing capacitance changes at the sensor electrodes. Capacitance changes are amplified and converted into digital signals which are processed by a dedicated digital signal processing unit. The digital signal processor applies filtering, bias and sensitivity adjustment, as well as temperature compensation. The DSP also feeds back the driving signal to ensure the proper sensor excitation.
